Rainy Day
Rainy Day
Playing drums on the roof
Sounding like a thousand people marching
And drums drumming down the driveway
Rat-a-tat. Rat-a-tat
The rain beats a staccato
Beating like a heart
Slowly changing rhythms as the storms moves away

Suicide.
Suicide
I wish I could help hurting despondent people understand
I wish they knew how much each soul is worth
I wish I could take away their pain
I wish they knew Christ did
I wish that they could see that their loved ones will hurt
I wish they could understand that there’s always a way out
I wish they knew that they are loved
I wish, I wish, I wish, they would choose to live.

To all the Heroes
We can all be a hero to ourselves
We can be a hero when we help another in any way
We can be a hero as we struggle through our trials, and we all have them
We can be a hero every day. Just a smile at people you meet
We can be a hero by helping others, which in turn helps us
We can be our own hero as we serve others and bless own own lives
So serve yourself be serving others
Be the hero in your own life

What do you call a quick hardening splint?

What do you call a short tempered tote?

What do you call a donut on social media?

Earth Day
This Earth of ours is so wonderful
There’s so much to be thankful for
But we need to take a lot better care
Of this planet we call home
So let’s all do our part
To reuse, recycle, and reduce
Then our children and grandchildren
Can enjoy the beauties of Earth

Practicality
Practicality
Please explain to me why there’s a
Plethora of words to describe things meaning
Plenty of other things to give a
Poem you’re writing
Pizzazz and keeping the reader on his toes
Puzzling out what the writer meant and
Piquing their interest?

Who has a horn on it head?
Rhinoceros Beetle!
They do look like the real thing!!
Colorful beetles are cool
They are iridescent
And have colors like rainbows.

Our Dogs
Our Dogs
Give us such joy
They need companionship
We keep them safe and warm and fed
It is so hard to have to let them go
When their lives are shorter than ours
We love them anyway
We choose to love

Utah in the Spring
Mountains are tall around me, stretching to the sky
Flowers are adding their scent to the air
Birds are chirping merrily from morning until night
Wind kisses my cheeks and make them rosy
Sweet berries, flavor bursting in my mouth
All of this makes me feel so happy to be alive

Scary Friday
Friday the 13th is kind of scary
Lots of people believe so, even Fairies
The day can make you jump out of your skin
And that’s no joke if you’re kind of thin
So watch out for black cats and open ladders
Then you won’t run into any giant black adders
Don’t break any mirrors or seven years of bad luck
And you won’t win a gazillion bucks!!

Try so hard to look out for each other
They watch on their streets
Every day and every night
For other people doing things they shouldn’t be doing

Day 10-Poem Generator.
Ode to the Darth Vader
A Sonnet by dragonshelver
My Darth Vader, you inspire me to write. How I love the way you fights and marches,
Invading my mind day and through the night,
Always dreaming about the tall arches.
Let me compare you to a dark buffet?
You are more intent and more glowering.
Stark breeze flaps the angry dancers of May,
And the springtime has the all scouring.
How do I love you? Let me count the ways.
I love your black breathing, helmet and voice.
Thinking of your blue helmet fills my days.
My love for you is the towering joice.
Now I must away with a shangri heart,
Remember my long words whilst we're apart.

Read
When I was just a small child in school
I remember learning to read
Sometimes the rules were daunting
But it opened my eyes
Who would have guessed then
Where I would work
Libraries
Love them
Read!!

It’s Wet Outside
The sky today is almost white it’s so overcast
It’s Spring, but it’s a gloomy day
Our life is here in Utah
It’s rainy off and on
I’ll need to wear a raincoat
As we go to sit on a pew
Later we’ll probably watch Little Big Shots
After we have spaghetti with our son and grandsons

Easter Joy
Because of Easter Morn on April First
The flowers all around us did burst
They are all a part of God’s loving plan
To remind us of the Eternal nature of man
Our lives will be beautiful and reconciled
For we are His, every man, woman and child
His death on the cross was for each of us
We need to show gratitude or we will be lost

April Poetry This is Me
Look and you’ll see
My hair may be grey now, but it’s still my crowning glory
My eyes are brand new and enjoying seeing clearly again the wonders of nature
My arms are full of strength and love for all I see
My hands don’t like being still when there’s so much to do
My heart is yearning for peace and love in the world
I’m happiest when my loved ones are near me
I never ever want to stop singing
My friends can depend on me
I live the best way I can
I hope I do enough
I dream of all my loved ones happy and joyful
It’s clear as can be
That’s positively, absolutely me!

Day 28-Random Thoughts
The community newspaper, the Magna Times
Sits near me as I contemplate its stories
One is extolling the virtues of small papers
Community newspapers are showing growth
While the larger dailies are in decline
Even Fox 13's Good Day Utah has a segment
Devoted to stories from local newspapers
I for one, do not want to see this stop
Stories of our neighbors are a window
Into everyday life all around us

Poem in Your Pocket Day
Take some time on this very special day
To find a favorite poem for a fun holiday
It may be one that makes you laugh or smile
Or even one that makes you think a while
It can be one you've written yourself
Or one you find upon a Library shelf
Just keep it with you throughout the day
Then share with those who come your way.

Grandchildren
Goodness for your heart
Romping in your house
Asking you millions of questions
Never afraid of a mouse
Doesn't hold back love
Couldn't if they tried
Heaven's gift from above
Inching up to my height
Loves to sit on laps
Dreams of what to be
Reaches arms up for hugs
Ever gives you kisses
Now and forever more

Day 19
Day 19- monorhyme
Music of Poetry
Writing a poem is like writing a song
There are times it won't take so very long
Some you write to help others be strong
They can even be as pretty as a fawn
Or as simple as a lovely cradlesong
And this will carry me all my lifelong.
Day 19
Day18-Monorhyme
It's so much fun to make things rhyme
I like to do it all the time
I hope you don't think that's it's a crime
You won't even have to pay a dime!

Extra
I wrote this one today. It took me a while. It's actually two triplets.
We have birthdays in April
For that we are very grateful
And this is truly fateful
Before our kids got married
April just got buried
Now life is topsy-turvied!!

Day 13-Tan-Renga Poem
Being a grandparent
Is a parent's reward for
Raising our children
Hugs, happiness, memories
All is sublimely Heaven
In this kind of poem, it's a combined effort with a partner. I wrote the first 3 lines and my husband, Peter, wrote the last two.

Day 8
Another one for today
Scriptures are poetic in so many ways
So it makes me marvel as I pray
For the inspired men who wrote them
To guide and direct us in the Latter-Days
If we will but read them and learn their worth
We'll be given guidance while in our youth
These words are so very important to all
Remember to learn them while here on earth
Day 8
Day 8-Free Verse
Life is like a roller coaster
There are too many hills and valleys to count
But that's what make life and roller coasters fun!
How exciting would either be if they went nowhere?
