Day 29-Poem In MY Pocket 2

I also wrote my own for today.

Day29-Poem in my Pocket
The clouds in the distance are threatening
But we dearly need the rain
Our lives are full of changes
Changes in life are good
Without rain, the earth suffers
Without change, we suffer, too
So embrace the rain on your face
And learn to love the change

Day 29-Poem in my Pocket

This is a poem I learned as a sophomore in high school, and I’ve never forgotten it. I’m sharing it today.

Poem in my pocket 2022
Du bist wie eine Blume
Heinrich Heine
Du bist wie eine Blume,
So hold und schön und rein;
Ich schau’ dich an, und Wehmut
Schleicht mir ins Herz hinein.
Mir ist, als ob ich die Hände
Aufs Haupt dir legen sollt’,
Betend, dass Gott dich erhalte
So rein und schön und hold.
You are like a flower
English Translation © Richard Stokes
You are like a flower,
So sweet and fair and pure;
I look at you, and sadness
Steals into my heart.
I feel as if I should lay
My hands upon your head,
Praying that God preserve you
So pure and fair and sweet.

Day 28-Spring Senses

 Day 28-Spring Senses

I see the new buds on the trees around me
I hear the rain on the roof above me
I feel the sunshine in my soul within me
I taste the berries on the vine below me
I smell the new mown grass near me
Ahhh, I love Spring!

Day 27-Alliteration

 Day 27-Alliteration Poem

Vicki vented victoriously when
She saw a silly someone sharing
Candy with a couple of kids close by.
I want what you were wrangling, too!
They gratefully gave her glorious gobs
Of their gooey goodies.
Vicki was no longer vexed, but feeling very full and valiant!

Day 25-Diatelle

 Day 25-Diatelle

Quilt
Making
Breathtaking
Gorgeous artwork
Now pulls at the heartstrings
It can compare to fine brushwork
And takes many hours of loving piecework
You can be sure the artist worked without any guilt
Fabrics are chosen with colors berserk
Then hand sewn into a patchwork
The design now takes wing
Fine needlework
So Loving
Applied
Built

Day 22-Acrostic

 Day 22-Acrostic

Do you ever need to feel happy and need a fantasy land
Remember your young years and strike up a band
So, if you love Horton and Maizie and the Whos
Every story you can think of by beloved Dr Seuss
Until you see Seussical the Musical on stage
Stay ready to love it, it’s funnier than fun
Seuss stories abound in word and in song

Day 19-Rhyme Royal

 Day 19-Rhyme Royal

Spring sunrises are glorious and bright
While taking a walk this morning early
I was entranced by the beautiful light
There were golds, purples, and reds, all pearly
It made me thankful for all, so dearly
This old world was made for us to care for
So we need to do all we can and more

Day 17-Free Verse

 Day 17-Free Verse

All leaves are things of beauty
The vibrant colors shine
They make us love them all
There’s the beautiful greens of Summer
And the various browns of Fall
Much like the skins of earths people
Each shade is so unique
They’re what make life so wonderful
And glorious, rich, and full
This is a Poet-Tree at the Daybreak Library where I now work.

Day 15-Octopoem

 Day 15-Octopoem

The earth in Spring means green
Spring is a changeable season
Because outside our back door, I see green and white
And there’s rain now watering the grass
A day ago, there was a cloak of white everywhere
On days like this, it’s nice to curl up under a cozy blanket
Watching an episode of Star Trek
Eating caramel covered popcorn

Day 13-"What it...?"

 Day 13-“What if…?”

What if it didn’t snow in April?
I might have frozen my fingers
What if I realized it might snow?
I could prepare better
What if I listened to the weatherman(or woman)?
I would get warmer gloves!
Is this a silly thought?

Day 1- Couplet

This thing called April Fool's Day

Is a time when lots of people play

Always remember to take great care

For jokes and pranks will be the fare
